Story

Warp was founded in 2023 by Ayush Sharma (CEO), an MIT graduate in machine learning and physics, and Adam Rankin (CTO), a Virginia Tech engineering alum. Emerging from Y Combinator after their own payroll nightmare - a system failure that delayed payments and tax filings, taking 60 hours to resolve - they set out to simplify payroll and compliance for scaling startups. Warp began as an automation tool and grew into an AI-driven platform, raising $24M in seed funding from investors like Dropbox's leadership and Cruise's Kyle Vogt. This positioned Warp to challenge the $100B+ market led by companies like ADP. By 2024, Warp had automated filings for thousands of startups and entered rapid growth, on track to process $1B in payroll by 2025 through ongoing AI innovations.
